How Is Overtime Calculated?
For every overtime hour the employer pays the hour’s wage plus 50% of the basic wage (Article 107).
Hourly wage = full monthly wage ÷ monthly hours; the premium = half the basic wage ÷ monthly hours.

Actual working hours may not exceed eight a day or 48 a week, and six a day or 36 a week for Muslims in Ramadan (Article 98). Anything beyond is overtime.
Hours worked on public holidays and Eid days also count as overtime.
With the worker’s consent, the employer may grant paid compensatory days off instead of overtime pay (Article 107 as amended in 1446 AH).
Some employers pay an overtime hour at 1.5 times the full hourly wage. When allowances are large this is more than the law requires; the law sets a minimum that may be exceeded in the worker’s favor.
